The City of Gosnells is encouraging local businesses that have taken steps to reduce their carbon footprint to submit a nomination in the current round of the Switch Your Thinking Switched On Business Awards.

Judged by the South East Regional Energy Group, the awards recognise small- to medium-sized businesses that have made a difference by embedding sustainable practices into their operations.

Nominations are assessed twice each year, with the current round closing on Friday 19 July.

The winner will receive a framed Switched On Business Award certificate and will be promoted on Switch Your Thinking’s website, newsletter and social media platforms.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said the awards provide a great opportunity to recognise local businesses that are doing their bit for the environment.

“I encourage local businesses in the City that are actively working towards reducing their environmental impact to get their nominations in,” Mayor Lynes said.

Examples of sustainable business practices that may be considered during the nomination process include going paperless, switching to electric vehicles, reducing waste generation and maximising recycling, switching from gas to electricity for heating and other appliances and installing solar panels or battery systems.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 19 July. For more information, click here. To apply, go to www.switchyourthinking.com.
