Drain game no problem for cost-effective solution

The City of Gosnells is implementing an innovative solution to solve drainage issues across the City.

Rather than using traditional drainage gates which become blocked by leaves, City staff have created a side-entry system with a PVC u-bend trap to capture any leaves and mulch which get in.

City of Gosnells Mayor Terresa Lynes said the innovative, simple and cost-effective solution is being rolled out across the City’s drains of concern in hot spot areas which have historically encountered high leaf and mulch loads. These drains are then placed on an annual cleaning program.

“This innovative solution is a smart way of dealing with drainage issues,” Mayor Lynes said.
“As a City we are always looking at innovative and cost-effective ways of dealing with ongoing issues and this is an example of doing just that.”
