More than 400 home and business owners in the City of Gosnells feel “much safer” after receiving funding towards the installation of a CCTV security system as part of the Safe City Community CCTV program.

The program was first launched in 2022 and the City has now opened a third round of funding for 2024/25 which allows eligible home and business owners to apply for a rebate of up to $500 toward the installation of a CCTV security system.

The program has provided financial help to home and business owners to install quality CCTV systems across the City and assisted local police in investigating crime in the area.

“It is great to hear that home and business owners who have taken advantage of this program feel safer on their premises,” Mayor Terresa Lynes said.

“We are delighted to hear that the uptake of CCTV across the City has been helpful to local police who are combatting crime in the area.

“This is a positive outcome for everyone involved and we are hopeful that even more households and businesses across the City will take up this initiative over the next year.”

City of Gosnells resident Jason Taylor said he and his family were prompted to install the system after neighbours had experienced some security concerns.

“Knowing that there is an extra set of eyes there with my family is an extra security blanket, a bit of peace of mind,” he said.

“We are firm believers in the community working together – we’re all neighbours one way or another.”

To be eligible for the rebate, applicants must register their CCTV system to the WA Police Force CamMap system, agree to provide footage to Police when requested and at least one camera must be public facing.
