Council has approved the City’s Budget for 2024/25, focusing on providing value for money for services for the community.

Mayor Terresa Lynes said the Budget represented a careful balancing act.

“Councillors and I are mindful of the cost-of-living pressures having a significant impact on City of Gosnells residents and businesses at the moment,” she said.

“These cost increases have also affected the City, and the City has tried to absorb many of these increases and source external funding, while continuing to provide the services and facilities that our community relies on.”

The budget provides for continued investment in community infrastructure and includes:
• Commencing construction of the Langford Indoor Sports Centre
• Completion of the Youth Entertainment Space at Sutherlands Park
• Installation of a new all-abilities playground at Gosnells Oval
• Upgrades to the irrigation system at Walter Padbury Park, Thornlie to improve water and energy efficiency

A wide range of services will continue to be provided by the City in 2024/25, supporting the community with large festivals and smaller localised events, seniors’ programs, youth and children’s programs, library services, heritage services and much more.

“We know our community depends even more on the City’s events, programs and services when household budgets are under pressure,” Mayor Lynes said.

Support for ratepayers experiencing difficulties paying their rates will continue. People in such circumstances are encouraged to contact the City to organise a payment plan.
