Science isn't just for kids - it's for adults too!

In honour of National Science Week, join us for a free event series that celebrates how science can help in your homes.

There is so much going on underneath our feet which affects the health of your soil and how well your garden can produce healthy plants. Come along to this free, interactive workshop and learn how to support the microbes working in your own backyard.

Attendees will get to experience a live viewing of soil microbes sampled from compost and garden areas. See bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and nematodes up close and personal, to learn how they impact your garden's soil health.

Participants will also discover how microbes build soil structure, manage soil moisture, and assist in plant nutrition. By the end of this session, attendees will know what soil microbes look like, what helps or harms them, and how to measure if you have a healthy microbe population in your garden. This introductory workshop is great for people wanting to reduce their water use and carbon emissions, or those wanting to grow more food in their gardens.

Gardening with Soil Microbes is presented by EarthWhile, on behalf of Switch Your Thinking. The City of Gosnells will host the workshop in the Meeting Room at Thornlie Library.

Bookings are essential, and open to the public on the 11th of July 2024. Click here to book your spot!
