At this presentation Shane Hunter shares his knowledge on 'Creating Wildfire Friendly Gardens"

Australia is in the midst of an extinction crisis due to the massive loss of native wildlife habitat over the last two centuries.

Everyone can play a role in stopping this trend, starting right at home. Our home gardens can be transformed into a sanctuary for native wildlife of all sorts, including birds, frogs, insects and mammals such as Quenda.

Learn about how you can create safe and desirable gardens to attract native wildlife to your home.

Participants will learn about:

·         Common types of wildlife that can be attracted into gardens

·         Using native and non-native plants to create wildlife habitat and forage

·         Designing a diversity of habitat types into gardens

·         Building and installing nesting boxes and other shelters for wildlife

·         Providing water and other essentials wildlife need

·         What to avoid to ensure your garden is a safe place for wildlife

·         Monitoring wildlife in the garden
