The Competition Sponsorship funding program is now open for the 2024/25 Financial year 


Category 3 – Competition Sponsorships

This category provides funding assistance to support individuals who are representing either Western Australia or Australia in their chosen field of endeavour. Applicants must be either residents or ratepayers of the City of Gosnells.


What are Competition Sponsorships?

Competition Sponsorship supports individuals who have achieved State or National selection in their chosen field.


Am I eligible?

  • Applicants must reside in or be a rate payer of the City of Gosnells.

  • Participation must be in a competition recognised by a relevant State, National or International governing body, or an equivalent recognised association within their field of endeavour 

  • Applicants must provide a selection letter from the organisation they are representing.
  • Where no relevant State, National or International organisation exists, a clear selection process at State, National or International level must be demonstrated. 

Sponsorship is not awarded to:

  • Applicants who have already received sponsorship in the financial year.

  • Applicants who apply after the date of their competition.

  • Applicants who have been selected by Local organisations such as schools and sporting clubs.

  • Applicants who have been self-selected, invited or nominated to attend.

  • Applicants who are not competing.

  • Applicants who are performing or completing a showcase (not a competitive event).

  • Applicants who are attending programs primarily focused on personal development or learning opportunities.

  • Applications submitted after the commencement of the competition. 

  • Evidence of selection provided by an individual, rather than the official governing body or recognised authority. 

How much can I receive?

Competition Sponsorships are awarded in the following three categories:

  • State competition/event
    Successful applicants will receive $300 to represent either the state or country at a competition/event held anywhere in Western Australia.
  • National competition/event
    Successful applicants will receive $400 to represent either the state or country at a competition/event held anywhere in Australia, (excluding Western Australia).
  • International competition/event
    Successful applicants will receive $500 to represent either the state or country at a competition/event held overseas.

Sponsorship is not just for sport

The City supports individuals in their chosen field such as arts and culture, educational and music.
