Meet Mel, our Bookings Officer

How long have you worked for the City of Gosnells?

I started in 2021 in customer service, then moved to a job share role in bookings a year later. Prior to that I worked for Travelex for 14 years, based at the Perth airport.

What does your job entail?

I coordinate summer and winter sports seasonal bookings, liaising with clubs about all sorts of things. I also help the team with casual and annual bookings of community halls and parks across the City.

What do you like the most about your job?

Sorting out the Tetris-like puzzle each season to ensure all clubs are allocated training and game space. It's a good feeling when I can balance the needs of more than 30 growing clubs with 19 reserves available for play each season.

Tell us something about life out of work.

I'm a retired softballer, having played 34 years with Redbax Softball Club and two years with Kotahi Softball Club. This season I'm team manager for my son's soccer team, a role that includes assistant coach, player scout, taxi driver and baker. I'm the glue that keeps the team together!
